Spring classic turns into a mud bath

SKS Team: Line-up before the start

This year’s SKS Bike-Marathon at the Mega Sports Mountain Biking Festival was a real challenge for the around 1100 riders: The infamous steady rain in the Sauerland region turned the mountain bike race into a real mud bath. After the starting signal was given at the SKS company premises in Sundern, the riders headed along consistently slippery and sodden tracks towards Sundern-Hagen, where the finishers were received with warming space blankets.

SKS Bike-Marathon: The winners

Jolien Janssen (SforZ racing team) and Peter Hermann (Mondraker Rockets racing team) triumphed as winners on the 100 km track. Romana Carfora (Schilder MTB Team) and Niclas Ranker (RC.Pfälzerwald) won the 55 km distance and Linda Hennes (TV Attendorn racing team) and Marcel Henschel (Edelhelfer racing team) won the 30 km Fun Marathon. Congratulations to everyone who participated. See you next year – hopefully in the sunshine!
